Jim Riordan Named 2025 Kenworth Legend at Trucking Industry Conference

Adelaide, April 2025 – Jim Riordan, Managing Director of Riordan Group Pty Ltd, has been named the 2025 Kenworth Legend at the Australian Trucking Association Conference held in Adelaide this week.

The Kenworth Legend Award honours individuals in the trucking industry who demonstrate strength, perseverance, and success. Jim Riordan earned this year’s title for his outstanding contribution to the industry over nearly 30 years.

Michael Long, Director Sales and Marketing, PACCAR Australia said “Recognising an operator as a Kenworth Legend acknowledges someone whose commitment to the industry embodies the values of tenacity, spirit and getting in and getting the job done safely and reliably. Jim is a perfect Kenworth Legend and we are proud to be associated with the Riordan business.”

Jim started Riordan in 1996 in Geelong with just one tipper truck, transporting grain and fertiliser to local customers. Seizing opportunities as they arose, he has since steered the company through an impressive period of growth and diversification. Today, Riordan is a family-owned Australian agribusiness leader that offers a fully integrated suite of grain marketing, transport, storage, bulk commodity handling and packing services to both Australian and international clients.

February 2025 marked another significant milestone for the Riordan family, with the retirement of Jim’s father, Robert Riordan, after 60 years at the helm of Riordan Fuels. One of Victoria’s largest private fuel distributors, Riordan Fuels is now under the management of Riordan Group.

A steadfast supporter of Kenworth trucks throughout his career, Jim highlighted their key role in the business’s performance. “They are proudly Australian made, built strong to handle the most challenging conditions—on or off road—and the support from the sales and servicing teams is always spot on,” Jim said. “It’s this reliability that enables our business to capture efficiencies every time we hit the road.”

From humble beginnings with a single vehicle, the Riordan Group now operates a fleet of 35 Kenworth trucks, transporting grain, fuel, and agricultural inputs throughout the South Eastern regions of Australia.

Jim’s recognition as a Kenworth Legend highlights not only his personal achievements but also the growth and impact of the Riordan Group in the Australian transport and agricultural industries.
